Betty L. Allen, age 82, of Oquawka, Illinois passed away at 7:51 pm on January 19, 2013 at Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab Center in Stronghurst, Illinois.
Betty was born on September 8, 1930 in Gladstone, Illinois and is the daughter of Lee and Harriett Jaeger Lewis. She was raised in Gladstone where she attended local schools and G & O High School. She married Paul D. Allen on December 28, 1948 in Monmouth, Illinois. Betty was employed by the Henderson County Sheriff 's Department for many years as the office administrator. She is survived by her son Michael (Mary) Allen of Lenexa, Kansas and two grandchildren Christopher (Valorie) Allen in Spring Hills, Kansas and Sean (Elizabeth) Allen in Olathe, Kansas. Two great granddaughters survive Isabella and Grace Allen. Also one brother, Robert Lewis in Mendota, Illinois. Her parents, and two daughters, Jackie Allen and one in infancy, and her brother Alfred Lewis precede her in death .
Services: Cremation has been accorded. A graveside committal service of her ashes is being planned on April 13, 2013 in the Oquawka Cemetery. More information will be published as it becomes available. Services are in the care of Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois.
