Mrs. Hazel Dell Anderson, 97, of Ursa died at 11:42 a.m. Monday (July 21, 1997) in North Adams Home near Mendon.
Born March 29, 1900 in Ursa Township, Mrs. Anderson was a daughter of Harry W. and Lydia M. Lawber Lewis. She married Chester W. Anderson Jan. 31, 1921, in Quincy. He died April 16, 1963.
Mrs. Anderson had been a member of Ursa Christian Church since 1926 and its Golden Rule Sunday School Class, having served as chaplain 26 years, and was a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship, Ursa Unit of the Adams County Home Extension since 1928, and the Great River Genealogical Society.
Mrs. Anderson attended Indian Grave School in Ursa Township. She was owner of the Anderson Cafe in Ursa, a family business, for 21 years.
Survivors include a son, Milo Anderson of Ursa; a daughter, Mrs. Henry (Vivian) Cannell of Mendon; four grandchildren, Brent Cannell of Mendon, Bruce Cannell of Quincy, Curtis Cannell of Missoula, Mont., and Mrs. Merle (Susan) Kenady of Timewell; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn and Frank Lewis.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in Ursa Christian Church by the Rev. Martha Hermanstorfer. Burial will be in New Providence Cemetery near Ursa.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Curry-Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon with family meeting friends after 6 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Ursa Christian Church.
