Elsie (Lima) Bowen Resendes, 94, of New Bedford, formerly of Dartmouth, died Monday March 24, 2003 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facillity after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Cornelius Bowen and Manuel Resendes.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Antone C. and Mary (Gonzales) Lima, she lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth for most of her life.

She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth.

Mrs. Resendes was formerly employed as an inspector at the Morse Twist Drill until her retirement in 1971.

She was a member of the Bliss Corner Senior Citizens and St. Mary's Guild.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Norma Bowen of Dartmouth; 2 grandchildren, Shawn Bowen and his wife Terri, and Colleen DeMello and her husband Bruce, all of Dartmouth; 3 great-granddaughters, Kerri Ann DeMello, Riley Regina Bowen, and Amanda Jean Bowen; a sister, Mary Enos of Providence; and a niece, Othelia Rapoza of Dartmouth.She was the mother of the late John "Jack" Bowen, and sister of the late Margaret Correia and Gus Lima.

Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday March 26, 2003 at 9 AM in St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery will be private.
