Born in Portsmouth, R.I. on November 4, 1911. She was a daughter of the late Francisco and Rosa (Souza) Lima.
Before her retirement Rose was an employee for the General Electric Corporation. She was a parishioner of St. Barnabas Church in Portsmouth.
Rose loved her family, her many animals, and working her farm, she worked her farm until the age of 87. She swears this was the secret to being young at heart. Her farm consisted of 10-12 goats, chickens, rabbits, cats, dogs and other animals that came her way. Her heart was with the animals and she never turned any away. She was known as the local resource for goat milk and helped many children that were lactose intolerant. She lived in her home until the age of 98 where she moved into independent living for the elderly. She amazed everyone with her energy and stamina well after her 100th birthday.
Rose was the loving mother of six children: Evelyn Souza of Portsmouth, RI; Raymond Almeida of Spokane, WA; Eleene Campbell of Leesburg, VA; Philip Almeida of Boise, ID; the late Lorraine Raposa of Pomfret Center, CT; and John Almeida of Coventry, RI; and loving grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
