Born in Chengdu, China, Alice grew up in Taiwan, and lived in the US for over 50 years. With a PhD in social work from Columbia University, she was an accomplished administrator and consultant. Her achievements included serving as Deputy Commissioner for the New York State Office of Mental Health, and as a professor at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
In the past two decades she provided consulting services to local governments throughout the United States. She was also the author of the book “Grandmother Had No Name.”
Alice was a loving wife and mother, and is survived by her husband of 48 years, Nan Lin, as well as her brothers Mu-ming and Muchou, her sons Ho and Ping Lin, her daughter-in-law Sophia, and her grandchildren, Elinor and Gilbert. She will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the memorial service, to be held at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 West Main Street, Durham NC 27701, commencing at 2pm on May 30th.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Dr. Alice Mujung Lin to the Duke Cancer Institute to support ovarian cancer research.
