Buried in the Home of the Friendless Memorial area in Block 4. The Home was founded in 1863, originally for Civil War widows and orphaned children brought here from Fort Smith, Ark. Over 6500 hundred women and children passed through the home while it was in operation from 1863-1904. Burial land was donated by Oak Ridge Cemetery and approx. 185 are buried in this section, most all in unmarked plots. The Memorial was established in 2008 and all names that could be identified as being buried in Oak Ridge are listed on the wall.
