Born in Colusa, Ill., she was the daughter of George N. and Myrtle Holmes Lincoln. On Mar. 20, 1931, she married William V. Elder in Quincy, Ill. He died July 17, 1978.
She graduated from Colusa High School in 1926 and worked as a clerk at the LaHarpe Post Office, retiring in 1973. She enjoyed music, flowers and traveling. She was a member of the Shadrack Bond Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of the Eastern Star, LaHarpe Senior Citizens and LaHarpe Union Church, where she served as a deaconess and belonged to the Philathea Club. She was secretary of the LaHarpe Community Council.
Survivors include one granddaughter, Brenda Briney of Geneseo, Ill.; two great–granddaughters; nieces; and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one daughter.
The funeral was held at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, with the Rev. Bruce Goettsche officiating.
