Sam W. Lincoln, aged 71, well-known Tenth Legion farmer and a member of the famous Rockingham Lincoln family which produced President Abraham Lincoln, died at Rockingham Memorial Hospital yesterday afternoon at three o'clock following seven weeks illness from complications.

Mr. Lincoln had not enjoyed the best of health for some time and had practically retired from active farming. His condition became worse six weeks ago and he was brought to the hospital here.

He was born at Lacey Spring, being a son of Abraham Lincoln, a cousin of the President, and moved to Tenth Legion after his marriage to Miss Ella Lee Long, daughter of Erasmus Long. He since had lived on the Long farm. Mr. Lincoln was one of the leading citizens of the community and until his health failed was active in the Bethlehem Christian Church at Tenth Legion.

Besides his widow, he is survived by four children, Mrs. W. B. Robertson, Rutherfordton, N. C.; Clarence Lincoln, U. S. Army, Honolulu; Mrs. Earl P. Heatwole, Arlington, and Julian Lincoln, at home. He also leaves a granddaughter, Mary Ella Robertson; and two sisters, Mrs. Robert W. Bradford, Harrisonburg, and Mrs. S. S. Gordon, Providence, R. I.; two brothers, Dr. J. E. Lincoln and Prof. J. J. Lincoln, preceded him to the grave.

No funeral arrangements were, completed last night but it was said, that burial would be at Tenth Legion.
