Linda M. Achterkirch, 56, of Holmen died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at University Hospital in Madison, due to complications from a brain aneurysm.

She was born Feb. 21, 1949, in Jackson County to Norman and Violet (Rodenberg) Lindberg. On Feb. 25, 1967, she married William Achterkirch at Burr Oak Lutheran Parsonage. Linda was employed as a nurse at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse for 24 years, the past 12 years as a hospice nurse. She enjoyed being a nurse and sincerely cared for all of her patients. After her death, Linda's organs were donated as a gift of life for those in need.

She was a member of Halfway Creek Lutheran Church in Holmen, where she was a parish nurse. Linda enjoyed socializing with her friends, especially with her monthly card club. The family would like to thank all of Linda's friends and co-workers for their friendship and also for the support and visits during her hospital stay in Madison.

Survivors include her husband, William; three children, Laura (Shane) Lambert, William Jr. (Kathy) Achterkirch and Andrea (fiance Bob Brant) Baxter, all of Holmen; three grandchildren, Christopher Baxter, and Theodore and Maxwell Achterkirch; two sisters, Norma Bradshaw of Blair, Wis., and Mary Ann Hadl of Onalaska; one brother, David (Sandy) Lindberg of Westchester, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a nephew; and two brothers-in-law, Jack Bradshaw and Joe Hadl.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 27, at Halfway Creek Lutheran Church, W6016 Hwy. W, Holmen. The Rev. Lindsay Paul Jordan officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
