Kristina Lindberg Benson Life Story
A wealthy couple from Amot, Sweden, gave Kristina & Beda Lindberg from Ockelbo, Sweden money to go to America. On May 1, 1907 they departed Göteborg, Göteborg och Bohus, Sweden, on the ship Rollo. They arrived on May 12, 1907 in New York, New York, USA with $20.00 between them. They are described as 5'5" tall with fair complexion, fair hair and blue eyes, born in Ockelbo, Sweden.

After arriving at Ellis Island and going thru the process they went to Titusville, Crawford, Pennsylvania were their Uncle Per Boman, brother to their mother Brita, lived.

Kristina worked in the Riverside Inn Hotel in nearby Cambridge, Pennsylvania. There she worked as a housekeeper / maid in the Riverside Hotel. Knute and Kristina met while she was working and he rooming at the same hotel. Knute who in 1910 is listed as Married, wife Kristina, living in Calumet, Itasca, Minnesota, USA, occupation is Teamster on a Beer Wagon.

On July 25, 1908, Kristina married to Knute Benson in Grand Rapids, Itasca, Minnesota, USA. Their first daughter Esther was born on April 26, 1909 in Grand Rapids, Itasca, Minnesota. Following were children Mabel Ragnhild Benson1910, Earl Walter Benson 1912, Albert Bennett Benson 1914 and Ruth Amelia Benson 1916.

On July 22, 1914 a third sister Elin came to America, arriving on August 4,1914 in New York, New York, USA. She died a few months later of typhoid fever in Ironton, Crow Wing, Minnesota, USA.

On July 10, 1923 Kristina's brother, Per "Peter" Lindberg, departed Strandbro, Sweden, arriving on August 1,1923 in New York, New York, USA, continuing on to Calumet, Itasca, Minnesota, USA, where his sister resided. His wife Olga Wikander and three children Signe, Bernhard, and Astrid came over in 1926. Peter and Olga Wikander had 5 children. One of the daughters, Astrid, traveled to Sweden and found a great deal of information on Lindberg's side.
