BARNES, Shirley L. age 81 of Fairborn, passed away Friday September 17, 2010 in the Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born January 30, 1929 in Braddock, PA, the daughter of the late Birger A. and Goldie C. (Newman) Lindstrom. Shirley was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and was employed in Dr. Ken Sparling's office in Fairborn, retiring after 20 years of service. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Oakwood for many years; and she volunteered with the Fisher House on Wright-Patterson AFB as well as many church ministries. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Warren S. Barnes. She is survived by three children, Karen Barnes-Lewis and husband Samuel Lewis of Clayton, Lauren Cliff and husband Peter of Dayton, Keith Barnes and wife Traci of Clayton; four grandchildren, Brittany, Courtney, Lydia, Nicholas; dear friends, Charles and Jean Fada of Fairborn; as well as numerous other extended family and friends. The family will receive friends on Monday September 20, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday September 21, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. in the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 33 W. Dixon Ave., Oakwood, Rev. Jack Koepke officiating. The family will also receive friends from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at the church. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery.
