Enock is of Sami descent. The Sami are the indigenous people of northern Europe inhabiting Sápmi, which today encompasses parts of northern Sweden, Norway, Finland and the Kola Peninsula of Russia. Enock was born in Östra Gerum församlingar (parish) in Skaraborg Län (now a part of Västra Götaland Län).

Enock came to America when he was 17 years old and became an apprentice as a tailor. It did not take him long to start a succesful business. He took the name Lindstrom after he came to America. He met and married his wife, Lena, at Moody Church, in Chicago, where he was an usher.

He is buried in the family plot in Graceland Cemetery but he does not have a marker.
