She was born Gunvor Anna Desideria Lindstrom on March 9, 1922, in Hastbo Darlana Lan Sweden to Carl and Anna Lindstrom.
In 1950, she came to America from Sweden by herself and took on the job of a family housekeeper. She met her husband, Leonard H. Larsen, after he returned from the Korean War, through a blind date set up by the family she was working for at the time. They were married July 17, 1954, in Woodstock.
She was a master seamstress and very good at needle crafts. She was very good with animals, as well. She loved garage sales, baking, sewing and knitting. She was well known for her coffee cakes at Christmastime for friends and family. Those that knew her would recall that she loved everyone she met, and she was always there for her family.
She is survived by her two sons, Harold Larsen and Charles (Teresa) Larsen; her granddaughter, Ilsa Ciszon; two great-grandsons, Gavin Ciszon and Grant Ciszon; her brother, Lennart Lindstrom; her sister, Gunnel Stromberg; and many nieces and nephews in Sweden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard H. Larsen in 1982; and her sister, Gudrun Paulsson.
A visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 2, at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock. The visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 3, at the funeral home. Interment will be in McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery in Woodstock.
