EAST LIVERPOOL - Ollie Mae Burson, 79, of Wood Alley, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, May 6, 2011, at 2:35 a.m. from her home following a brief illness.

Born June 4, 1931, in Hager, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Frances Linkous. A lifetime area resident, she retired from Hoge's Restaurant in 2002 after working many years as their head breakfast cook. At one time she owned and operated the Midway Diner Truck Stop on River Road. She also spent time working for the Homer Laughlin China Company and for the Royal China Company.

A graduate of the former Midland High School, she was a member of the House of Prayer church in Calcutta.

She will be sadly missed by her four surviving children, daughters Mary Huffman and her husband, Roy of Dellroy, Ohio, Cheryl Beckner and her husband, Mark of East Liverpool, and Kathryn Oliver and her husband, Bill of East Liverpool; as well as her son Roy Burson and his wife, Melody of Grove City, Ohio.

There are seven grandchildren, Christin Lucas and her husband, Chuck, Tommy Pease II and his wife, Christina, Mark Beckner, Allison Beckner, Rachel Brandle and her husband, Corey, Courtney Burson, and Travis Burson; as well as three great-grandchildren, Cohen Edward Pease, Taylor Elizabeth Pease, and Kennedi Alese Lucas.

She also leaves behind two brothers, Charles Linkous and his wife, Dollie, and Frank Linkous and his wife, Bonnie; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burson was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Burson; two sisters, Lucille Linville, and Louise Adkins; and one brother, John K. Linkous.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Monday from 2-4 and from 6-8 p.m. Pastor Kim Gadd of the church will celebrate a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Family and friends will gather at the House of Prayer immediately following the service for a time of fellowship.
