Nelda Irene Aegerter-Herman, 84, of Jefferson City passed away, Sunday, October 26, 2014 at St. Mary’s Health Center. She was born on August 15, 1930 the daughter of Elzie Lou and Leona Tracy (Bolden) Lister. She was united in marriage on June 23, 1951 in Jefferson City to Norman V. Aegerter who preceded her in death on March 8, 1983. She was then united in marriage on August 25, 1990 in Jefferson City to James Herman, who survives of the home.

She was a 1948 graduate of Jamestown C-1 High School and graduated from Missouri Business School in St. Louis, Missouri with a certificate in Business Administration. She was employed with the Missouri Department of Agriculture, Jamestown C-1 School, Garnett Tractor Company in Jamestown, Central Missouri Professional Services and then went to work for 24 years at the Missouri National Guard as a Recruit Coordinator until her retirement in 1996. Nelda attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City, Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in California, MO.

Nelda was a Supervisory Board Member of River Region Credit Union; a member of the Jefferson City Capital Lions Club where she served as president in three terms of office and volunteered at the Samaritan Center.

She loved the outdoors, especially her flowers and the back yard with her gazebo and fish pond. She enjoyed going to the farm with her husband James and traveling on vacations. Nelda traveled to all 50 states during her life. She most of all loved spending time with her family and friends.

Nelda is survived by one son: Robert (Vickie) Aegerter of Jefferson City; one daughter: Nila (James) Hagemeyer; one sister: Carol (James) Tenery-Jonson; four sisters-in-law: Mildred Walters, Gladys (James) Hentges, Virginia (Tony) Taube and Carol (Jerry) Benne; four grandchildren: Jeremy (Sandy Coburn) Hagemeyer of Washington, D.C., Joshua (Kelley) Hagemeyer of Jefferson City, Scott (Lisa Lawler) Aegerter of Jefferson City and Shaun Aegerter of Jefferson City; three great grandchildren: Kyle James Hagemeyer, Lucille Jo Hagemeyer and Henry James Hagemeyer; several nieces, nephews, friends and her cat: Babe.

Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Samuel Powell and Dr. Peter Kurowski officiating. Interment will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in California, MO. Expressions of Sympathy may be made to: Special Learning Center, Trinity Lutheran Church or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
