MONROE, N.C. - Ethel Logan Colwell, 90, died Thursday, July 19, 2012.

She was born March 17, 1922, in Gustavus, the daughter of Bessie J. Evans and Grover O. Logan.

Mrs. Colwell was a 1939 graduate of Gustavus High School.

She was a member of Kinsman United Methodist Church, Gustavus Mothers Club and Gustavus VFW Auxiliary.

She worked for Nickles Bakery until she retired in 1985 and enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, reading and crocheting.

Survivors include two sons, Dale (Barbara) Colwell of Monroe and Allan (Christine) Colwell of Bluffton, Ind., six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Colwell was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 47 years, George J. Colwell, whom she married Sept. 14, 1946; a daughter, Donna E. Colwell; a son, Timothy L. Colwell; a sister, Marian L. Sutliff; and a brother, Francis E. Logan.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Baumgardner Funeral and Cremation Service, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, with Linda Walton officiating.

Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
