KINSMAN – Eleanor L. Brown, 89, died on Aug. 11, 2011, at Autumn Hills Care Center.

She was born on March 8, 1922, to Victor and Clara (Switzer) Logan.

A long time Kinsman resident, Mrs. Brown owned and restored the Octagon House in Kinsman, that was the boyhood home of Clarence Darrow. Mrs. Brown served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She retired from Winkle Electric in Youngstown, where she worked as a secretary. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Kinsman United Methodist Church, Gustavus U & I Club, Kinsman Tourist Club, and Kinsman Historical Society. She enjoyed local history and was dedicated to promoting the life and legacy of Clarence Darrow.

Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her son, Alexander "Lex" Brown; her sisters, Alice Blaemire and Patricia Jeffers; and her brothers, John and Victor Logan.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Charles) Phillipson of Liberty Township, and Barbara Rosenblum of Howland; her daughter-in-law, Vicki Fonner of Kinsman; her sister, Lucille Cole of Williamsfield; her grandchildren, Patricia "Tappy" Christy, Carrie Barringer, Joe Rosenblum, Rebecca Rosenblum, Rachel Rosenblum, Nicole Brown, and Marissa Brown; and four great-grandchildren.

Burial will take place at Gustuvas Cemetery, Gustavus Township.
