Norma Bachkay, 83, of Monongahela, died Thursday, April 11, 2013, in her home. Born Jan. 3, 1930, in Monongahela, she was the daughter of the late Ubaldo and Josephine (Lisarelli) Lombardi. A 1948 graduate of Monongahela High School Norma worked for seven years as the secretary for St. Anthony Catholic Church in Monongahela and then for over 30 years as secretary for Transfiguration Catholic Church retiring in 2010. She was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish (Transfiguration Church ) in Monongahela and had belonged to their Altar Rosary Christian Mother Society. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda M. and Gerard States of Brentwood; and Patricia Stuart of New Eagle; four grandchildren Corinne (Darren) Miller, Stefanie (Jeff) Koskoski, and Amy and Patrick Stuart; a great-grandson, Evan Miller; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Frank Bachkay, who died Nov. 24, 1994; a son-in-law, James Stuart, who died March 29, 2002; and a brother, Mario Lombardi and his, wife, Albina Lombardi. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com. Funeral prayers will begin in the funeral home 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Damien of Molokai Parish, Transfiguration Church, at noon with her nephew, Father John Bachkay, as celebrant and Father William Terza co-celebrating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
