Emmett Joe Long, 76, passed away August 25, 2012 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Jelley will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Long, son of the late Charlie Mae Hardy Long and Edith Frank Long, was born in Byron. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jean Browning Long. Mr. Long was retired from Southern Railroad where he worked as yard master. He served with the U. S. Air Force and was a member of VFW Post 658. He loved to dance with the Macon SHAG Club.

Survivors include his children, Emmett Keith Long and Tarra Payne, both of Lizella and Tonya Long (Don) Nguyen of Gwinette; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, Ernest Long (Claire Sokoloski) of Eatonton; sister, Christine (Jimmy) Griffin of Macon; companion, Barbara Smith of Macon; several nieces and nephews.

Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue has charge of arrangements.
