Geraldine "Jerry" Cook Long, 88, passed away at Pine Pointe Hospice on Friday, December 19. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Monday, December 22 at 12 Noon at Forest Hills United Methodist Church with the Reverend Teresa Edwards officiating. Burial will be private at Macon Memorial Park. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Forest Hills United Methodist Church, 1217 Forest Hill Road, Macon 31210 or Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon 31210.
Mrs. Long was born in Ozark, Alabama to the late Benjamin Schellar Cook and Nora Haney Cook. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Long; one brother and three sisters. Mrs. Long was a member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church and the Grace Bible Class. She was very involved in many of the older adult ministries including the Good Timers. Mrs. Long and Harry were the former owners of Oak Haven Golf and Country Club. They loved traveling and playing golf and were past members of many golf associations. Mrs. Long was a homemaker and loved being involved with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Larry (Sheila) Long of Savannah and Lisa (Mark) Patterson of Macon; grandchildren, Kevin Long, Therese Long, Christen (Brian) McCommon, and Kendall Patterson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Snow's Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street has charge of arrangements.
