Johnnie Linda Long Norris
(November 13, 1942 - June 3, 2013)

Johnnie Linda Long Norris of Macon, Georgia, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, June 3, 2013 after fighting a valiant battle with ovarian cancer since 2003. She was 70 years of age.
The Celebration of her Life will be Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 11:00AM at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Family will greet friends between 5:00-7:00PM on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Cupola.
Her pastor of thirty years, Dr. Charles Michael Blizzard, will officiate. Lynne Barnes will be the pianist and the soloist will be Montene Carroll.
The Deacons of Cornerstone Baptist Church will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
Johnnie was born in Charleston, South Carolina, November 13, 1942. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louise Griffin Long and John Howard Long.
Johnnie graduated from McEvoy High School in 1960 and was employed by the First National Bank as a bookkeeper for six years. She then worked at Georgia Kraft (Riverwood International) for forty-four years, retiring in 2009. She was Senior Purchasing Coordinator.
Johnnie was a very active member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Macon where she served as a preschool teacher, a member of the stewardship committee, the money counting committee, chair of the personnel committee, the ministry action committee and sang in the Celebration Choir. For an interim time, she and Tommy lived in Gray where they were active members of the Haddock Baptist Church for several years.
Johnnie was a jokester and enjoyed making people laugh. She was an excellent cook with a wonderful spiritual gift of hospitality. Her home was always open to family and friends. At Christmas and other special times, she and Tommy made all kinds of candles to share with many.
Johnnie loved reading, knitting, crochet, and counted cross stitch. She won many blue ribbons from the Georgia State Fair for China Painting.
