Mrs. Virginia Long Allen, 76, wife of Mr. R. L. Allen, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. S. Dupree, near here at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon after a lingering illness. Funeral services for Mrs. Allen were held from the Zebulon Baptist Church Friday afternoon with Rev. Clifford Walker in charge of the services. Interment followed in the East View Cemetery with Haisten Brothers in charge of the funeral. Six of Mrs. Allen's grandsons served as pallbearers: Grady Allen, Talmadge Allen, Carl Allen, Robert Dupree, Jesse Dupree and Joe Cannafax. Mrs. Allen was well-known for her kindly disposition which continued through the long illness and her willingness to suffer in silence made her one of the best beloved women in this section. R. Allen, of Williamson and Dewitt Allen of Zebulon.
