Catherine L. Butterworth, 82, of 17 Pine Drive, Windsor, beloved wife of the late Thomas (Pete) Butterworth, passed away peacefully on Friday (December 4, 2009) surrounded by her loving family.


Born in Portsmouth, RI to the late George and Catherine (Holland) Lopes, she has been a resident of Windsor for over fifty years.


Catherine was very involved with the Windsor Senior Center and enjoyed reading, bowling, and crossword puzzles, but her true passion was her family and friends that will miss her greatly.


She is survived by her two sons, Michael Butterworth and his wife Judy, of Oakdale; Thomas Butterworth and his wife Irma, of Fargo, ND; her two daughters Kathleen Rogers and her husband Thomas, of South Windsor; Susan Ackell and her husband Ken, of Brookfield; a sister Betty Mello and her husband Bob, of Middletown, RI; and eleven loving grandchildren and one loving great-grandchild. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and George Lopes, and two sisters, Ann Fernandes and Barbara Sullivan.


Family and friends may gather at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Gertrude Church, 550 Matianuck Avenue, Windsor.
Burial will follow in Windsor Veteran's Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
