Nancy L. Caron 64, died Friday, August 26, 2011, at her home in Tucson after a short illness. She was the wife of Dwight S. Caron and the daughter of the late Manuel Soares Lopes and Irene (Medeiros) Lopes, both of New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Mrs. Caron had been a part-time resident of Tucson since January 2005. She had been a part time resident of Bristol, New Hampshire since 2004, and prior to that had been a lifelong resident of New Bedford and Acushnet, Massachusetts. She was employed as a second and third grade teacher by the New Bedford, Massachusetts school department from 1968 until her retirement in 2003.

After moving to Tucson, she volunteered as a children's advocate for Arizona's Court Appointed Special Advocate program, and later worked as a first, second, and third grade teacher at Beginning Academy in Tucson from 2006-2009. She also worked as a private tutor. Nancy loved working with children, hiking in the mountains in New Hampshire, Tucson, the Southwest, and the national parks, and traveling. She also enjoyed scrapbooking, knitting, and throwing surprise parties.

She is survived by her husband, Dwight, of Tucson; her son, Scott, and daughter-in-law, Sharon, both of California; her mother-in-law, Hilda Bergquist, of New Bedford, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Nancy will be laid to rest in California near the home of her beloved son. A Memorial Service in New Bedford will follow. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel.
