Lorraine E. Lessard - 76Lorraine E. Lessard of Ranier, Minnesota, died Saturday May 21, 2005 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.

Lorraine was born September 23, 1928 in International Falls and was a lifelong resident of Ranier. Growing up she attended school in Ranier and then graduated from Falls High School in 1947. Born Lorraine E. Slowe she was united in marriage to Fred "Butch" Lessard on June 18, 1948.

Lorraine was happiest helping other people. As a devoted member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church she enjoyed church suppers and attending Devotions. As a homemaker she raised eight boys and spent much of her time boating, gardening and volunteering at the nursing home. Lorraine was always generous in giving her time to those in need.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bill & Esther Slowe, husband Fred "Butch" Lessard, Brother Ben Slowe and Sister Marian Stavseth.

Lorraine is survived by her sons; Bernard (Jean), Leon, and James (Sherri) Lessard of the Falls. Mark (Mary) of Anchorage, AK, Kim & Timothy (Kris) of Ranier, Mike (Susan) of Ray, Mn, and Ronald (Laurie) of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Brother Clifford Slowe of Fort Francis and sisters Helen Tonn of International Falls, Dorothy Gjesdahal of Green Bay, WI, Betty (Dick) Olen of Menomonee Falls, WI, and Cora Olmstad of the Falls. Also surviving Lorraine are her 10 grandchildren; Mary-Lou, Mathew, Michelle, Nathan, Ben, Katie, Donovan, Derek, Emily & Katherine. Also surviving her is her special pet ? "Punkin" and numerous other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6 ? 8 pm Tuesday Evening May 24th, 2005 at the Green-Larsen Mortuary. Funeral Services are Wednesday May 25th, 2005 at 10am at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in International Falls with Father Tom Meyer officiating. Interment will be in the St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery on Thursday, May 26th, 2005 at 8am.

Memorials are preferred to the Koochiching County Hospice in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are with Green-Larsen Mortuary, Inc.
