ONEONTA — Mrs. Frances Fritz, 86, of Oneonta died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at the Kingsway Arms Nursing Home, Schenectady, where she had resided since 1999.
She was born April 11, 1916, in Oneonta, the daughter of Frank and Grace (Westcott) Lorraine.
A lifelong area resident, Frances graduated from Oneonta High School, Class of 1935.
She married Ernest "Ernie" Fritz on April 8, 1944, in Oneonta. Mr. Fritz predeceased her on Feb. 14, 1974.
She was employed at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital for 431/2 years in the X-ray department as an X-ray technician and also an X-ray supervisor, retiring in April 1978.
Frances enjoyed bowling. She has been a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1933, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women of the Church, Rebekah Circle, a former member of the choir and also a Sunday school teacher. She was also a former member of the volunteers at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital; the Red Cross Mobile Blood Bank in various locations in the city of Oneonta.
She is survived by her children, Ernest E. and Elizabeth M. "Libbo" Fritz of Richmond, Va., Richard A. and Beth Fritz of Salisbury, N.C., and Judith Saltsman of Rotterdam Junction; her grandchildren, Kimberly and Mike Chapleski, Jason and Kim Fritz, Ernest Richard Fritz, Nicole and Jurgen Kohler, Melissa and Sean Kopasz, Jennifer Fritz, Carlie Saltsman, and Jennifer and Alan Boyce; her great-grandchildren, Joshua Hammond, Ryan Chepleski, Morgan and Logan Fritz, Jurgen, Madison and Savanna Kuhler, Brandon Kopasz, Jordan Fritz, Hadley Boyce; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Frances was predeceased by her daughter, Joanne Fritz; one brother and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at the First United Methodist Church, Oneonta, with the Rev. Richard Breuninger officiating. Burial will follow at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, at which time the family will be in attendance.
It has been requested that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to either the First United Methodist Church, 66 Chestnut St., Oneonta, NY 13820 or to Community Hospice Schenectady, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308 in loving memory of Frances Fritz.
