Darlene was born in Clio, MI on September 20, 1938, the 2nd of 4 children to Ernest and Mabel (Butler) Losee. She was a graduate of Clio High School Class of 1956. Darlene worked several jobs including Kresge's and Michigan Music, before she met and married Kenneth C. Bird of Davison, MI on July 21, 1961 and transitioned into a life as a homemaker and mother. Darlene was heavily involved in Artex Paints and Crafts by Cameo, teaching evening classes for Adults at Davison High School and Smoke Rise Outdoor Adventure Campground for 20 years; and in 1993 was honored by Mott College for her excellence in teaching these classes. She and her family have been members of Flint First Wesleyan Church where she sang in the choir, taught "young missionary" classes to the children and was part of various other programs in the church. For the last 5 years, Darlene has been a resident of Charter Senior Living Community of Davison. The family is grateful for the good care they have given her.
Darlene is survived by her son, Rev. Gary A. Bird of Jackson, MI; 2 grandsons, Kenneth J. Bird (age 10) and Benjamin O. Bird (age 8); 2 sisters, Marilyn (David) Bundy of Genesee, MI and Patricia (Joseph) Leslie of Davison, MI; 3 nephews, Brian (Jody) Bundy, Brent (Tonya) Bundy and Gerry (Bethany) Leslie; 1 niece, JoAnn (Jason) Roth; special friends, Nettie Rosser and Don and Ida Hodgson; several grand-nieces, grand-nephews, many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Mabel Losee; husband, Kenneth C. Bird and brother, Gerald Gene Losee.
