Carrie Love Bradley, 75, Suffolk, Va., formerly of Hopkinsville, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, in Suffolk of natural causes.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Gamble Funeral Home, with the Rev. G.L. Foston officiating. Burial will be in Cave Spring Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. today.

A native of Fulton, she was born Sept. 23, 1925, the daughter of the late James and Ludora Lyons Love. She had worked in clerical medical records at Fort Campbell and was thought to be the first African-American to obtain a white-collar position at the military installation.

She was a substitute teacher in the Montgomery County, Tenn., schools, and was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church, Fulton where she had been a Sunday school teacher. She was a music intructor for several local churches and in Suffolk she was a member of the Gethsemane Fellowship Community Baptist Church where she hosted a singles ministry, was active in the elders ministry and I.C.A.R.E.(I Call and Respond Everyday). She was active in prison ministry and had been in the Soldiers Chapel Choir at Fort Campbell. Her husband preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Valene Bradley Bussell, Suffolk; two grandsons and one great-grandson.
