Born in St. Stephen, NB, Canada and raised in Calais, Maine, Joan came to Washington, DC after WW II to work for the Federal Government and in a private law practice. She was the first Cherry Blossom Princess from Maine in the 1948 Festival.
She met her future husband shortly thereafter, and they raised their family in suburban Maryland living in the same home for 50 years.
She loved being a mother and having all of her children raise their families in the Washington, DC area, where they were frequent visitors.
A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine Laboure Church, Wheaton, MD on Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
