-- Springfield friends have been advised of the death Nov. 17 of Mrs. Fred W. Lukins at her apartments in the Hoyde Park hotel, Chicago, Tuesday of last week, where she had resided for a number of years.
-- She was the widow of Fred W. Lukins, well known coal operator and superintendent of the mine at Virden, which figured in the strike violence there in 1898. Then residents of Virden, the Lukins family moved to Springfield where they resided at 1035 South Second street until the labor agitation died out, after which they returned to Virden.
-- Mrs. Lukins is survived by three sons, Charles A., of Missouri, and Raymond A. and Richard H. Lukins, both of Chicago.
-- Services were held at the Second Presbyterian church, Chicago, and interment was in the Virden cemetery.
