Per was a hard working aggressive man. Besides farming, he had a sizeable herd of cattle and he operated a brick factory along the west side of the Sheyenne, located south of the barn yard.
They were members of Gol Lutheran Church, rural Kindred.
On Nov. 5, 1889, Per was kicked in the stomach by one of his young horses as he stepped down from the wagon while hauling wheat to a flour mill northeast of Kindred on the Sheyenne River. He died the following day on Nov. 6, 1889
