Elma Lynes Crews, 91, of Nahunta, (Brantley Co) GA died Thursday afternoon (Aug. 23, 2007) at her residence following a lengthly illness.
Born in Hickox, GA, her parents were David Lemuel Lynes and Lizzie Highsmith Lynes. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Terrell Crews (who was employed with Chambless Funeral Home), a Son, Stanley Crews, a Grand daughter, Jeanie Crews, Great Grand Daughter, Ashleigh Griffis, 5 Sisters, Eunice Wainright, Leona Wilson, Navada Herrin, Ola McAndrews and Vera Lynes and 2 Brothers, Robert Fulton Lynes and Jessie Lynes.
She worked as a Secretary for the Health Department, OREMC, Brantley County Extension Office and retired from the Probate Judge Office in 1977.
She was a member of the National Poetry Society, she loved her grandchildren and her keyboard and had many talents. She graduate High School in 1938 and was a member of Community Christian Church.
She is survived by her 3 Children, Sherrell C. Johns of Nahunta, GA, Terry Crews (Kathy) of St. Marys, GA and Stacy Crews (Tammy) of Nahunta, GA; 9 Grandchildren and 20 Great Grandchildren; 2 Sisters, Myrtle Nichols of Hortense, GA and Lois Hutcheson (Ray) of Hoboken, GA; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Saturday evening starting at 6 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Sunday (Aug. 26, 2007) at 2 p.m. at Chambless-Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta, with Rev. Frank Jacobs, Rev. Leon Wilson and Rev. Ion Johns officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Raybon Comm.
Pallbearers will be Sons and Grandsons, Stacey Crews, Terry Crews, Timmy Johns, Alan Johns, Jamie Crews and Lee Crews.
