"The death of Miss Eliza B. Lynes a native and life-long resident of this village, occurred Saturday morning at the Bailey Nursing Home in Oneonta where she had been a patient for the past two and a half years. She was 85 years old. Miss Lynes was born in Cooperstown on November 10, 1869, a daughter of James and Mary E. (Burditt) Lynes. She was one of the oldest graduates of Cooperstown High school, having been awarded her diploma in 1888. She was a member of Otsego Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Only survivors are several cousins. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Ingalls Funeral Home here with the Rev. H. D. Hayes, retired Lutheran pastor of Hartwick Seminary, officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery in the Spring."
