Agnes L. (O’Connor) Lyons, 95, passed away on December 30, 2014. She was the beloved wife of the late Gerald J. Lyons, Sr.
Born and raised in Westfield, MA., she was the daughter of the late Irene (Gosselin) and Ulysses O’Connor and one of 15 children. Agnes was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and worked for the Johnson’s Book Store in Springfield, MA., Quincy Mutual Insurance Co., in Quincy, MA., and Rice Davison Daily Insurance in Middletown, CT.
Agnes came to Cape Cod in 1982 and became an active meber of St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis. She volunteered as a fundraiser for the St. Francis Xavier School and Church and was recipient of the Marian Medal, an annual award that recognizes members of the Fall River Diocesan Parishes for their dedicated service to the Church.
She is the Mother of Marianne Dagher of Barnstable, Gerald J. Lyons, M.D., and his wife, Nancy of North Haverhill, NH., and Kathleen Cochrane and her husband Jack of Westwood, MA. Sister of Mary Bates, Donald O’Connor and James O’Connor all of Westfield. Grandmother of Fauz Blakely, Saleh Dagher, Brahim Dagher, Noona O’Neill, Gina Dagher, Michael Dagher, Christopher S. Lyons, Sarah Duncan, Anna Fomenko, Aubrey Cochrane and Jake Cochrane. She also leaves 14 great grandchildren and was mother in law of the late Rifaat Dagher, M.D.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday January 2, from 5-8 pm at the Morris, O’Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Dr., South Yarmouth. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday January 3, at 9:30 am at St. Francis Xavier Church, South St., Hyannis. Burial will be on Monday at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
