ATTLEBORO - Ralph E. Lyons, 94, of North Avenue, Attleboro, died on Friday, Jan. 5, 2007 at the Life Care Center of Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of the late Vada (Shafer) Lyons, who died in 1990.

Born in Attleboro on Feb. 26, 1912, he was a son of the late Michael and Cora (Boyer) Lyons. He was raised and educated in Attleboro and attended Attleboro High School, where he was a member of the high school orchestra.

A veteran of the United States Army, he enlisted on Nov. 25, 1942 and served until his honorable discharge on Feb. 22, 1946. He served with the 335th Army Band for three years as he traveled to entertain soldiers who were injured in the war. He was the recipient of the American Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

Prior to joining the service, he was employed with the former Metals & Controls which later became part of Texas Instruments in Attleboro.

He later was employed for many years as a motel manager in Maryland.

Mr. Lyons resided in Waynesboro, Pa., and wintered in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., prior to moving to South Yarmouth in 2003 and later to Attleboro in 2005.

A lifelong musician, Mr. Lyons was a member of Al Leclair's Band and the Jewelry City Band with director Randolph Bell many years ago.

He leaves two sisters, Ruth Barrett of Attleboro and Eileen Blais of Attleboro; and several generations of nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Raymond Lyons and Norman Lyons.

Visitation has been respectfully omitted.

A private family service with full military honors will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, McArthur Boulevard, Bourne. Burial will follow.
