Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at First German Evangelical
Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. N.W. Kock will officiate and burial will be
in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Mahnke was born at Manitowoc Dec. 24, 1895, son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Mahnke. He married Ranetta Plautz Sept. 16, 1925. She died June 14, 1971.
Mr. Mahnke was a United States mail carrier. Following his retirement 14 years
ago, he served as Manitowoc County deputy sheriff. He served in World War I and
was a member of American Legion Drews-Bleser Post No. 88. He was also a member
of the National Association of Lettercarriers.
Surviving are a brother, Walter, of Manitowoc; a sister, Mrs. Paula Gerphiede,
of Pasadena, Calif.; a niece and a nephew (Survivors names omitted for privacy.)
and other nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4 to 9 p.m.
Sunday until noon Monday when the casket will be moved to the church where the
body will lie in state until the time of service. Graveside military rites will
be by the Legion post.
