BESSIE MAHNKE (d. 1980)

Mrs. Bernard (Bessie B.) Mahnke, 89, formerly of 1329 S. 10 St., died early
Friday morning, Oct. 10, at Park Lawn Home.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at First German Evangelical Lutheran
Church. The Rev. Arno J. Wolfgramm will officiate and burial will be in
Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Mahnke was born Sept. 23, 1891, at Manitowoc, daughter of the late Fred
and Caroline Wilhelmy Drumm. She grew up and was educated in Manitowoc. Mrs.
Mahnke was employed as a seamstress at Wagners Style Shop prior to her marriage.
She was married to Bernard H. Mahnke, June 22, 1916, at First German Evangelical
Lutheran church by Rev. Karl Machmiller. He preceded her in death Jan. 10, 1978.
Mrs. Mahnke was a member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid
of the church and was a former president of the Ladies Aid Society.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Wallace Strutz of Manitowoc;
two sisters, Mrs. Linda Jaeger of Manitowoc, Mrs. Lena Wight of Downy, Calif;
three grandchildren, a great grandson (private). She was preceded in death by two
brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Urbanek & Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 6 p.m to 9 p.m.
Sunday and 12:30 p.m. Monday till the time of services at the church. Memorials
to First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc Lutheran High School or
Memorial Hospital.
