Notes: One of two ships from this group lost enroute to ETO from the 385 Bomb group. B17 42-30254 departed Gander June 20th. Station Prestwick Scotland heard transmission " approaching field ". Nothing heard again. The search was conducted until June 25th with no results. This statement was from the initial missing crew report dated June 27, 1943 which was found false after later review.

Under the Freedom of information and privacy act, two exhibits refute the statement.

4th endorsement, station #3, EW, ATC, 27 Nov 1943, no file number

"After careful examination of all radio logs for 21 June, no entry appears in the logs indicating that contact was ever established with B-17 42-30254 which was operating under the R/T cell sign "Jobey A"" Clyde S McCall Lt Col Air Corp Officer in Charge USTAC


In a communication dated 14 January 1947 from Headquarters American Graves Registration Command European Theater Area APO 887 US Army reference RRE 203.9 (1B)

"Careful examination of all radio logs for 21 June at the Canadian and Scottish ends of the run, revealed that no contact was made with the plane after it took off "


On 3 memorials (68653830, 69851002 and 69441018) there is a note of possible sabotage per the MACR and other records.

No sabotage mentioned on either MACR (42-30254 or 42-30229, the two aircraft missing on the same flight path June 21 1943) and have not found any reference to sabotage. However the creator states that, "The info about sabotage is not on the MACR but was sent by a very trusted military source."
