Mrs. M. P. Michels, 74, of 732 N. Seventh St., Manitowoc, died at 12:30 p.m.
Thursday at Wisconsin General Hospital, Madison, following a short illness.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Mittnacht Funeral Home, Manitowoc
and 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Rev. Claude LeClair
officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Michels was born Emma Regele, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Gropp
Regele, Oct. 24, 1889, at Marshfield. She attended school at Bakerville and was
married to Mathew P. Michels Oct. 13, 1914, at Marshfield. The couple resided
at Marshfield for five years then moved to Dorchester residing there until 1930,
then moving to Manitowoc.
Mrs. Michels was employed in the Drapery Dept. at Henderson-Hoyt Co., Manitowoc,
for many years. In 1953, she was employed as Cafeteria Manager at Lincoln High
School, retiring in 1959.
She was a member of VFW Auxiliary and Rosary Society of Sacred Heart Church,
Manitowoc.
Survivors include two sons, Robert of Manitowoc and Capt. Eugene of Lowry Air
Force Base, Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Miss Evelyn Michels of Manitowoc; two
brothers, William of Hayward and Henry of Tomah; two sisters, Miss Esther Regele
of West Bend and Mrs. Frank Kaas of Marshfield and seven grandchildren. Her
husband preceded her in death in 1951.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home where the Rosary will
be recited at 7 p.m. by the Rosary Society of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and
the Knights of Columbus, and at 8 pm. by the Daughters of Isabella. At 6:15 p.m.
there will be a memorial service conducted by the VFW Auxiliary.
