Marjorie "Marge" R. Miley, age 86, of 1237 Teckla Place, Kiel, formerly of Manitowoc, died Tuesday morning, February 7, 2012, at Oak Creek Assisted Living in Kiel.

Marge was born on September 22, 1925, in Sheboygan, daughter of the late Clara (Schram) Miley and Raymond I. Miley. The family lived in Mishicot until she was three years old and moved to Manitowoc. Marge graduated from Lincoln High School in 1943 and that same year began her long career in the news room of the Herald Times Reporter. She was managing editor when she retired in 1986, but continued to write her popular Milestones column after retirement.

She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder and as a Deacon. She was a life member of the Girl Scouts of America through the Manitou Council, and was a life member of the Manitowoc County Historical Society. Marge served twice as president of the Manitowoc-Two Rivers Professional Women's Club, and was active in the state BPW organization serving as editor of the Wisconsin Business Woman magazine for a dozen years. She was a member and past president of the Wisconsin Press Women.

Marge was a past trustee of Memorial Hospital in Manitowoc and a member of Trees for Tomorrow Environmental Center in Eagle River. She was a member of the Wisconsin Maritime Museum and the Rahr-West Art Museum Association, serving as a docent in the art museum galleries and at the Rahr-Vilas mansion.

Survivors include: a nephew and his wife: Darwin and Donna Johnson, Manitowoc; three grand-nieces: Sheila and her husband James Draxler, Kiel; Raquel and her husband Dave Durden, Waleska, GA; and Jessica Johnson, West Allis. She is further survived by three great-grand-nieces: Gabrielle and Rachel Draxler, and Erika Johnson; and two great-grand-nephews: Noah Draxler and Tyler Durden. She is also survived by cousins and many friends both locally and in the USA. Marge was preceded in death by one sister: Marion Miley Johnson.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 10, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church, 502 North 8th Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Dr. Matthew L. Sauer will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.
