Linda M. Lutz, 66 of Butler passed away on March 3, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Hospice. She fought breast cancer for over 3 1/2 years. Born December 6, 1948 in Butler, PA, she was the daughter of John W. and Betty Jane (Lawson) Maharg. Linda was a 1966 graduate of Seneca Valley High School and Butler Beauty School. She was an accomplished seamstress and hair stylist. She was also the manager with owner Mary Gillman of the former Rest Haven Nursing Home. She was a member of the Eastern Star, where she was a Worthy Matron and a past district deputy. She was a dedicated lady of the Syria Shrine and the Daughters of the Nile. She was also a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gibsonia. Linda enjoyed making dolls, sewing, making cakes, bowling, reading, and spending time with her family. She was dedicated for the last 7 years to caring daily for her grandchildren. Surviving are her loving husband, William Lutz, who she married February 21, 1975, sons, Benjamin (Tara) Lutz of Butler, and Daniel Lutz of Butler, her father, John W. Maharg of Butler, her grandchildren, Aiden and Taylor Lutz of Butler, her siblings, Carol Kravits of Philadelphia, Jerry (Janet) Maharg of Zelienople, Alvin (Janice) Maharg of Odessa, MO, Connie (Marve) Gaiser of Kittanning, and Merle Maharg of Butler, aunt and uncle, Edgar and June Lawson of Butler, sister in law, Sandra Lutz of Cabot, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jane (Lawson) Maharg. Friends will be received on Friday, March 6, 2015, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Fox Funeral Home, Inc., 410 W. Main Street, Saxonburg. The Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Tony Schneck officiating. Interment will follow in Butler Co. Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital of Erie, 1645 W. 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505 or the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gibsonia, 3832 Gibsonia Road, Gibsonia, PA 15004.
