Andrew Maier filed his Declaration of Intent for citizenship on March 2, 1891 and became a naturalized citizen on March 6, 1893.

The village of Lautenbach, where Andreas Maier was born, is located in the Black Forest Region, currently in the County (Kreis) of Ortenau [Ortenaukreis], in the State of Baden-Würtemberg. At the time of both his birth and his subsequent emigration from Germany, the region was known as the Grand Duchy [Grossherzogtum] of Baden and part of the Unified German States, which were established about 1815.
