The final act of a tragedy in real life closed last week with the death of Miss Rena Mailliard of San Geronimo. A few months ago none seemed more to be envied. Beautiful, charming, in the very threshold of her budding womanhood, with everything in life to live for, no future could appear brighter with promise. But the hand of fate was upon her. A strange and insidious malady developed grave symptoms last May and later she was taken to the East in the hope that a desperate operation might save her life. But this hope proved illusive. A surgical examination showed a malignant growth on the brain, and her broken hearted family brought her home to die. The end came, not unexpectedly, on September 24th. The sorrowing friends who knew and loved her are many.
