Mr. Herman Makkonen a resident of Douglas county for the past 23 years, passed away Saturday, April 5 at 10:20 p.m. He was born March 20, 1847 at Finland. He was married to Kathryn Kerranen. Four daughters and three sons were born to this union.
He leaves a mourn his wife and the following children: Mrs. Anna Lehto, Mrs. Isaac Lehto (Selma), Mrs. John Lee (Kathryn), Mrs. Matthew Laht, (Helen), and sons John, Jacob and Wyno.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 8th. He was laid to rest in the Lake church cemetery. The pallbearers were: John and Jacob Hermanson, Jack, George, William and Emil Lehto.
