Born November 9, 1917, to James and Ophelia Manning with Bessie, her twin, in Daisy Vestry, MS. She died Saturday, July 24, 2010.
Her family moved to Satsuma, AL where she later married DeWitt Clinton Baldwin and helped raise his sons. She was extremely active in the community affairs of Satsuma. They included the Methodist Church, Satsuma P.T.A., Order of Eastern Star, and other community affairs. She loved anything that was beautiful and enjoyed horseback riding, traveling, cooking, reading, the beach, fishing, hunting, gardening, and sewing. Her travels took her around the world, and she loved London.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Frances Baldwin; her sisters, Jimmie, Iris, Bessie, Dean, and Euvon; her brothers, Norman, Ford and Pat; and her daughter-in-law, Nancy Baldwin.
She is survived by her loving sons, N. Earl (Jeanie) Baldwin, Howard M. Baldwin, William S. (Gwen) Baldwin, and Fred D. Baldwin; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She will be remembered as the true "steel magnolia." Funeral services will be held from the Carl Adkins Chapel of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the church parlor. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
