Kathryn E. Markunas, age 89, of Markesan, formerly of Rockford, IL, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2009, at Markesan Residential Home in Markesan, WI.
Kathryn was born on March 28, 1920, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Ray and Margaret (Friberg) Hill. She graduated from Rockford Central High School and on October 25, 1941, Kathryn married John Markunas in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was a secretary at a screw manufacturing company and was also a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Rockford.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy (David) Ellis and Bobbi (Jerry) Devera; one son, Tom (Michelle) Markunas; three grandsons, Mark (Lori) Ellis, Dan (Lisa) Ellis, and Scott (Renee) Devera; two granddaughters, Rebecca Ellis and Amy Devera; three great-grandchildren, Sean Ellis, Andrea Reddic and Riley Ellis; three step-great-grandchildren, Ryan, Amber, and Skyler; one aunt, Virginia Setterquist; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kathryn is preceded in death by her parents; her husband John; grandson, Chad David Devera; great-granddaughter, Kathryn Elizabeth Ellis; sister, Greta Nelson; niece, Nancy Malm; and many aunts and uncles.
