Tony William Markunas, 75, son of Elizabeth Rackiskas and Peter C. Markunas was born June 3, 1916, at West Frankfort, Illinois. He died May 16, 1992 at Houston House nursing home. He died of cancer.
He married Lola Pauline Tallent February 5, 1939. They had four children and lived at Houston, Missouri for the last 34 years.
He was an Army veteran and a first class machinist. He was in the construction trade and a member of Construction Laborers of Greater St Louis.
Mr. Markunas was preceded in death by two sisters: Louise (Markunas) Stricklin, and Helen (Markunas) Cirignani - Nicholas; one brother, Joseph C. Markunas; and three grandchildren: Jerry Deloy Lafferty, Mark Christopher Tuttle and Kristine Markunas.
Surviving are his wife Pauline; three daughters, Barbara (Markunas) Lafferty - Jerry, Des Moines, Iowa, Stella (Markunas) Tuttle - Joey Tuttle, Redwood City, California, and Leora Reising (Markunas) - Mark, Cincinnati, Ohio; one brother, Peter Markunas - Gretchen of Springfield, Illinois. seven grandchildren: Kim (Lafferty) Farrar, Cheri (Tuttle) Callis, Michelle Tuttle, Heather (Tuttle) McKenna, Jennifer Markunas, and Charles Markunas and four great grandchildren: Cassie Lafferty, Brendan Lafferty, Nathan Farrar and Sear Farrar.
Services were May 19 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Sheldon Zook officiating. Burial in the Dykes Cemetery.
