Bernard R. Markunas, 81, passed away September 6, 2010 in Willow Valley Arbor View, Lancaster, PA; a former resident of Aston, PA.

Bernie was born in Mahanoy City, PA in 1929. He worked for General Electric for 43 years until his retirement. His service in the Army was in the Korean Conflict as a PFC in Japan. He was an active member of Aston Township Townwatch Committee for many years. Bernie also enjoyed building and flying remote control airplanes after retirement.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Sally Markunas, by his children Maureen Markunas of Warminster, PA and Bryant Markunas of Spanaway, WA and his grandchildren, Deannita, David and Danielle of Tacoma, WA. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Elizabeth Wolf Markunas. Graveside services will be private.
