Funeral for Mrs. Verna L. Calkins, a practical nurse of 16822 SE Rhine St., will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Holman's Funeral Service. Internment will be in Lincoln Memorial.
Mrs. Calkins died Monday in a Portland hospital. She was 74.
She was born in Spray, Ore., and lived in Portland for the past five years.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Margaret E. Craig, and Mrs. Donna M Helart, both of Portland; Mrs. Charlotte A. Ward, Maupin; and Mrs. Sharon L. Latham, Mt. Lake Terrace, Wash.; five sons, Riley A. Calkins, East Troy, Wis.; Virgil Calkins, Sandy; Duane E. Calkins, Chula Vista, Calif.; Donald and Delbert Calkins, both of Portland, two brothers, Lester Martin, The Dalles and Roy Martin, John Day.
She is also survived by four sisters, Dorothy Nichols of Hubbard; Viola McGinnis and Rose Underhill, both of Portland and Waive Schreiber, Manning; 30 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
