Mrs. Bankhead was born in Lakeview to W.L. Hank and Jessie (Mendell) Martin.
She moved with her family in 1940 to Klamath Falls, where she attended school unitl the family moved to Bend in 1950. She graduated from Bend High School in 1957. The next year she moved to Sacramento, Calif., and began a career with the State of California. She worked as a clerk for the state franchise tax board from 1960 until she retired in 1992.
She married John Bankhead in Carson City, Nev., on Dec. 31, 1961.
They moved to Klamath Falls in 1992. He preceded her in death in 1995.
Mrs. Bankhead stayed in Klamath Falls until moving to Lakeview two months ago to live with her parents.
She enjoyed camping, photography with her family, movies and movie stars, and reading. She missed only one Christmas with her parents and brother over the years.
Survivors includer her parents, W.L. Hank and Jessie Martin of Lakeview; brother and sister-in-law,Dean and C. Arlita Martin of Klamath Falls; mother-in-law, Ethel Bankhead of Orangevale, Calif.; step-sons and step-daughters-in-law, John and Rhonda Bankhead of Missouri and Anthony and Robin Bankhead of Georgia; sisters-in-law, Gary Bankhead of Orangevale and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives.
